  • INHALATION
    		• Headache. Pupillary constriction, muscle cramp, excessive salivation. Sweating. Nausea. Dizziness. Wheezing. Laboured breathing. Convulsions. Unconsciousness.
    		Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! (see Inhalation).
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Blurred vision.
    		Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal cramps. Vomiting. Diarrhoea. Blurred vision (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
    		Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Separated from food and feedstuffs. Well closed.
    		Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

     COLOURLESS CRYSTALS.

     The substance decomposes on heating above 200░C and on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes including nitrogen oxides, phosphorous oxides, sulfur oxides.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: ppm; 0.2 mg/m3 (skin) (ACGIH 1997).
    MAK: ppm; 0.2 mg/m3; III, H (1996).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powdered.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance may cause effects on the nervous system , resulting in convulsions, respiratory failure. Cholinesterase inhibitor. Exposure may result in unconsciousness or death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Cholinesterase inhibitor; cumulative effect is possible: see acute hazards/symptoms.

         		The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to honey bees. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
    N O T E S
    The technical material is a brown waxy solid. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. The symptoms of acute intoxication do not become manifest until 30 minutes to 1-2 hours. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Do NOT take working clothes home. Guthion and Gusathion M are trade names.
